The Carrousel Carousel

Not so much a "Jack of All Trades" as a "Jester of All Trades", Sage was born and raised on a Lavender farm in Sequim, WA, and has been able to commit to many a bit, but never a specific medium.
A self-described “thoroughbred mutt”, she traces the themes in her artwork to her mixed Filipino-Colombian ancestry, cultures in which celestial motifs and vivid colours abound. She has been creating artwork for as long as her artist father has allowed her access to his tools, beginning in fibre arts before expanding into drawing and painting, taking many detours before delving most recently into digital art and ceramics.
Shaped by extensive travel from a young age, Sage developed a deep reverence for craftsmanship and handiwork through direct engagement with diverse cultural traditions. This has been further fed by a fondness for the interdisciplinary and the obscure, with interests ranging from carrousels and automata to ocular prostheses.
These passions, combined with a purposefully fluid skillset, converge into a diverse body of mixed-media work. This includes The Collective Self as Defined By Other People, her 2025 solo exhibition, which interwove multiple artistic mediums with disciplines drawn from the Social Sciences and her background in research.
